St. Lucia Vulnerable Children and Family Support Project, South Africa
Surrounding the beautiful area of St Lucia are rural villages with many children, some of who are orphans, in need of care. The province of KwaZulu Natal has an extremely high rate of HIV and teen pregnancy creating a demand for the support of mother’s and families. Volunteers on this project provide vital support in Orphan Day Care centers, also assisting in HIV/AIDS and Family Support Groups. Volunteers play a huge part in the Child and Family Support Project and you can anticipate the opportunity to forge special bonds with this spirited community during your stay. This project gives you the opportunity to engage with people – young and old – and make a positive impact, while at the same time undergoing an unforgettable, life-changing experience.
