                                  Eco-adventure in Tanzania

Kuchanga Travel's eco-adventure experiences bring you closer to local environments
and cultures. We partner with locally-owned and tour operators and visit communities that want us and benefit from us.

                                  Cultural visits

Although famous for wildlife, you cannot visit Tanzania without meeting some of its peoples. There are more than 100 different tribal groups within the country. Many of the tribes have adapted to living in modern cities or using western farming techniques, however there are tribes that still cling to their traditions and culture as it has been for hundreds of years. Among ethnic groups that still adhere to their traditional way of life are the pastoralist Maasai and Datoga, Hadzabe (the bushmen), and the agrarian Iraqw people. Over the years Kuchanga Travel's local partners have built strong friendships with members of these tribes and they will welcome you as visitors.

                                  Ngorongoro Consevation Area

                                  Lions in Ngorongoro
This unique park in Tanzania protects not only wildlife but also the interests of several tribes who maintain their traditional lifestyles. The major group of people in the park are pastoralists from the Maasai tribe. Ngorongoro is also famous for its volcanic geology. It is made up of huge calderas, such as Ngorngoro Crater, Empakai Crater, and Olmoti Crater. Ngorongoro crater is often dubbed the eighth wonder of the world because it has the largest unbroken crater/caldera in the world. There are many animals inside and outside the caldera, including the last of Tanzania’s remaining black rhino population.

                                  Serengeti National Park

                                  Picture
Serengeti National Park is the biggest among the national parks of East Africa. The name Serengeti arises from the word “Siringet”, a Maasai term meaning “endless plains.” The Serengeti plains support the life of more than 200 different species year round. It is the refuge of 1.5 million wildebeest during the wet season. You’ll also see zebra and gazelle, lion, cheetah, leopard, and hyena.

                                  Lake Manyara National Park

                                  Picture
Flamingos, elephants, giraffes, and many other species are common to Manyara, located along the rim of the Great Rift Valley. The park offers amazing views of the lake; you can spot animals like elephants, buffalos, and zebras with or without binoculars. The most famous attraction at Manyara is its rare tree-climbing lions.
